The Science of Light Scattering
Understanding how we extract valuable data from ordinary optical fibers
Laser Pulse Transmission
A laser pulse is sent through an optical fiber, traveling along the entire length of the cable.
Light Scattering
As the pulse travels, tiny portions of light scatter backward (Rayleigh, Raman, Brillouin scattering).
Data Analysis
Each scattering mechanism carries unique information about the environment around the fiber.
